Wireless network security - WEP and what is needed in using it?

WEP, or Wired Equivalent Privacy, is a name for original technologies to the wireless network. His name is very well laudable, but at least misleading. Technology never came close to goal and level of wireless network that would be considered equivalent to hard wire cousin.

WEP is an encryption key using the appropriate protocol is too important to every customer who wants to access the wireless network. This key must match the same given to the right to use network resources. This is especially important if it doesn't match, then the user is not only a web log.

Technology itself is not inherently bad. WEP is the way implemented. Easy for a person without the permission of access rights to the network again to calculate the network key. When found necessary, they can login as any person with permission to use their network resources to provide or receive any information sent across the wireless network you describe even without knowing that they were there!

Snoop any personal computer with wireless capacity and you can download easy to use tools and equipment that Packer will not allow anyone, not just forward Packer, so you get protection from WEP network.

Alishika thought and strength in the crack the WEP key. Can reach lengths of 128-bits to give the impression that it would be difficult for anyone to guess the password key. Technically this is true. Will be almost impossible to guess someone important. But when I explained, there are programs that can sniff the air to offer a wireless signal, he lyzed tissue types, Intercept data stream to decrypt the key passed without user intervention.

Some people say that the WEP and use the tools and other equipment with wireless MAC address as the integration / separation option will give you additional security level required. Once again, this is another fine idea. As well as software that sets out the key pass, there are victims who can produce fake MAC address to overcome this feature.

You have to use WEP? Yes, I think that if you choose to use WEP security does not fight, that's better than using nothing. And difficult for me better. The best way to think about this is to compare the front door of the house. You have a choice between nothing and stands in the doorway is open - this is your wireless network without security protection is active. WEP will be equivalent to you that the screen door swings C. but there is no latch, no He will. They agree, this door is now better than nothing. Critters may not be but I think you'll agree that it is anything but peaceful.

And there is a better way = WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) is discussed in the next article ...
